Poplar buds - Populus spp. (in the Saliaceae or Willow family)

Part used: Resinous leaf buds.

Taste/smell: Resinous, aromatic, slightly bitter.

Tendencies: Drying, warming.

Dosage: 1:3.2 fresh strength liquid extract: 10-30 drops 1-4 times per day.

Use: (a) Expectorant, (b) Anti-inflammatory, (c) Antiseptic, (d) Decongestant, (e) Diuretic.

It is used to stimulate the appetite and aids in digestion. Poplar buds are used for coughs with difficult expectoration, urinary tract infections and as a topical and internal remedy for joint and muscle pain.
